Star Sand: Sky, Hand Painted Pendant Necklace by Fernworks

This stunning necklace is a work of art with real natural elements! Encased in the layers of the hand-painted scene in resin are bits of "star sand" collected by the artist in Taketomi Island, Japan. Star sand is the beautiful shell remnants of microscopic organisms called foraminifera.

Each piece varies slightly. Pendant measures approximately .5" x 1.25". 18" Sterling Silver Chain. 

Faryn Davis of Fernworks creates tiny, intricate worlds in resin. She blends miniature painted scenes and found specimens, from real grass, lichen, feathers, gemstones, and ethically sourced bones, into dimensional resin artwork and jewelry. Each piece is hand-painted with toothpicks and brushes, layered in epoxy, then polished into delicate, dreamlike 3-D landscapes populated by magical symbols, birds, bears, foxes, and other creatures.
