Risograph printing can be described as "digital screen printing" - similar to traditional screen printing, but with the added convenience of a copy machine. Its vibrant colors and distinctive textures are a result of the RISO process, which intentionally creates small imperfections to give each print its own character. Interestingly, "RISO" means "ideal" in Japanese, where the process was originally developed.
